After a good start in France, we continued West towards normandy. We had a stop in Etretat. A small coastal city surrounded by cliffs resembling the cliffs of dover on the other side of the canal.
Etretat was overrun by tourists so after a quick lunch and a walk to the beautiful viewpoint, and a stroll through town and tourists we continued.
Our stop for the night was a small family run camping ground on an old farm in the middle or nowhere. It was to elderly people and their grandson who ran the place. And electric quad was converted to a rolling office. The place was very simple, but beautifully located and with cows grazing on the other side of the fence.
After a good night’s sleep, we decided to break up the camp since the forecast said rain. So decided to drive through some of normandys coastal towns. First stop was Honfleur, a small town full of charm at the end of the Seine. After a stroll through the old medieval streets and a look at the harbor where we could see Le Havre on the other side, we continued.
Next was Trouville and Deauville two towns divided by a river, but very different. We had fruit-de-mer at the fishmarket on the seaside, and had a look around. Although different, the towns reminded us of Atlantic city, with boardwalks on the beach, casinos and beautiful old houses overlooking the ocean.
We ended the day in Caen.
